The lifetime trek of legendary artist, aviator and visionary, Matt Jefferies, is traced from his adolescent years flying model airplanes, to his wartime service in B-17s, his work as an aviation historian, his restoration of a vintage biplane and his career in Hollywood as a set designer and art director.
Upon meeting for the first time Roddenberry asked Matt to design a space ship unlike anything ever illustrated in science-fiction. The craft must have no fins or visible rocket exhausts and be capable of warp drive. Matt asked: "What is warp drive?" "I'm working on it", Gene replied as he walked away.
